Question:

What is the best low end acoustical guitar for more than beginner?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: When I began playing guitar in 1956 we had perhaps four or five brands from which to choose. Today, there are as many guitar brands as there are automobile models.

Once you've advanced beyond the beginner stage, your choice of a good acoustic will be based on your individual tastes, the projection of the instrument, the handling of the neck, and the action.

There are many good brands to choose from that are near the $300 range, such as Alvarez, Ibanez, Takamine, Ephiphone, Fender, Guild, Washburn, and much more. If you have more expensive tastes, consider a D-1 Martin that ranges at the $900 mark.

The best advice I can offer is visit several reputable music stores and play what they have. Focus on neck feel, action, and projection of sound from the box. Just because the instrument might be gorgeous to look at doesn't mean it will play well for you.

Of importance, take your time in your selection unless you do what I have done when I saw a certain HD-35 Martin hanging on the wall. I had to have it and I got it, which entails a longer story.

Good hunting!
