Question:

Has anyone heard or peformed J.S. Bach's Sonata(s) for solo keyboard?

I can't find a recording of it... Don't know the history of this composition either... I'm dying to know how it sounds like, esp. since I've heard almost every keyboard (incl. Organ) work by my favorite Baroque master. BTW, I don't have time to learn it...

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: My guess is the one you're after is the five-movement keyboard sonata in D major, BWV 963.

This is probably the only original solo keyboard sonata Bach wrote, but there are also a number of transcriptions, for example those numbered BWV 964-970.

This website gives a complete list of his works:
http://www.jsbach.org/completebwv.html...
It also recommends recordings - including five listed recordings of this sonata. [I think the Angela Hewitt is good, so long as you don't mind a modern instrument.]

Alternatively you might try doing a Google search for the BWV number, if you think you've found it.

Hope you find the one you want. Good listening!
