What kinds of jobs and where in the country.....? SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE!!!!?

What kinds of jobs could I get with a degree in music with a voice concentration and what cities would I have to go to in order to find a job with that degree?

I am seriously considering changing my major, BUT before I do for sure I want to know waht jobs I could get with taht type of degree?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Not to be too discouraging, but making one's living from performing EXCLUSIVELY is very difficult, and usually possible in only the largest cities.

That being said, what is very possible is to "patchwork" an income from singing, teaching, and other part-time work. I know lots of people who do this and seem to be quite content. I know a singer in my area who runs her own catering business. She has a good clientele, including lots of musicians who know that she understands what their needs are. (Like not clanking dishes together during a performance!)

Also, just because you have a degree in music doesn't mean you can't do something else, too! The skills you learn as a musician will stand you in good stead in whatever line of work you wind up in.
