Question:

Where can I find a CD of traditional Hungarian vocals?

I remember in one of my classes in college our professor played traditional or folk music from across the world. Hungary and Bulgaria had some strikingly beautiful vocals. Since then I have been looking and looking for CD's of this spectacular music. All I have been able to find is two tracks on the English Patient soundtrack - which are quite beautiful but leaves me wanting more. Does anyone know where I can find such music?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: As someone's already said, Marta Sebestyen and her band Muszikas are great and most of their CDs are fab (I like "Morning Star.") I suspect you would like "Les Mysteres Des Voixs Bulgares," which is Bulgarian women's singing and available under variations of that title - all great. A lot of Hungarian music (especially Romany music) is mostly accapella, you might try a CD called "Best of 2000 - Gypsy Folk Groups" for an introduction to many well-known Romany groups, like the incredible Kalyi Jag. It's available at Amazon, I happen to know.
