Question:

How do you learn a whole opera role in one month????????

I'm kind of freaking out...I know how to break a piece of music apart, but I've never had to sing a principal role in an opera before. Blocking starts in one month starting Monday. How do I get off book within one month? Anyone have any advise? Any pearls of wisdom? I'd love to hear them all :o)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Once you've gotten it to just those couple places where you can't remember the words to save your life, write them down on notecards and carry them with you everyewhere. Drill yourself while waiting in line, during commercials while you watch TV, etc. Then highlight lines as you memorize them. It's really gratifying to see more and more get highlighted and knowing you have less and less left to go!

Break a leg, babe.
