Question:

Songs for college musical theatre audition??

Alright, here's the deal...

I've applied to Tisch School of the Arts in New York, and I want to audition for the musical theatre program. I already have my monologues ready to go, but I still need sixteen bars each from two songs from musicals (a ballad and an upbeat song).

Anyone have any suggestions??

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well, I don't know your voice part, but Unexpected Song from "Song and Dance" is a great song to show off high and low range as well as intonation. It would probably be best for a soprano. One of my favorite alto/belter ballads is Someone Like You from "Jekyll and Hyde". Popular from "Wicked" is a GREAT upbeat character song to show off your acting ability. I would look for stuff that you can play up really well and show them you can act and sing at the same time!
