Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Elgar Cello Concerto Dvorak Cello Concertos Tchaikovsky Roccoco Variations Haydn Cello Concertos Boccherini Cello Concerto Saint Saens Cello Concerto in A minor Vivaldi Double Cello Concerto For a mix with other instruments: Beethoven Triple Concerto (Piano, Violin, Cello) Brahms Double Concerto (Violin, Cello) Get him anything performed by Rostropovich or Yo-Yo Ma. That's pretty safe. My favorite is the Elgar. Amazing piece. The cello is always needed in an orchestra, string quartet, string trio, and most other common ensembles that composers write for. I play the violin, but I always thought the cello was more expressive. Plus, you get to sit when you play. Good choice! |
