Question:

Does chewing gum help you sing better?

I've heard mint doesn't help, but I've seen John Lennon chewing gum often in music videos, and everytime I sing, I seem to sound clearer, whereas if I have a fruit drink, it gets worse. Is there any proof that it's better?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Chewing gum puts extra tension into your jaw which isn't very good for the singing voice. Mint might clear up your passages a little, but it could have a drying effect too. The best thing to do is just be really hydrated with lots of water.
