Question:

What song should I sing for my audition?

I'm auditioning for Grease, so maybe something out of the 50's...ish? Of course, it's not limited to that.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: from my experience, directors prefer hearing auditionees singing songs from the musical that one is auditioning for just so they can have a clear idea of how the music sounds on you. singing something that may be from the same era as the musical is supposed to be set, although it also gives the director an idea of your voice in music similar to that of the musical, may also send the wrong message of being unprepared. if there's a role you really are aiming to bag, I suggest you prepare a song of hers that best shows off your voice and then another one of hers with a contrasting style for when they ask you for another song. if it's sandy you're going for, hopelessly is a good choice for your first song and you're the one that i want for your spare. let us know how it goes. merde!
