Can u use footpetals for electric guitars with electric acoustic guitars?

Can u use footpetals for electric guitars with electric acoustic guitars?

well im getting an electric acoustic guitar for christmas and i want to know if you can use the footpetal things that you'd use on an electric guitar, such as reverb/echo/heavy rock or something, on an electric acoustic guitar. i don't see why you couldn't but just making sure
