Question:

What's the best way to improve my singing voice?

I'm 20 yrs old, I play guitar and my singing voice is awful. I know absolutely nothing about singing, what is involved etc. Any good Web-sites?, advice?, should I get an instructor?

Also on the side, Are there different ways to devolp your voice?
Classical vs Opera vs Rock. It seems like most blues/rock/folk musicians sound good but have deeper, raspy voices, espcially someone like Tom waits, compared to the very clean sound of classical singers. Do they train in a different way?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: You must must must get a voice coach. Tell them up front what kind of music you want to sing, and if they're willing/able to teach you that style. I would suspect your teacher would begin more classically and then adjust it to be more rock/folk; the classical training is the foundation off of which to build whatever voice you wish.
