I am going to Uni to study music was woundering if anybody knew anything about it ?

1/. I play lead guitar and I have been played on Triple JJJ radio staition a film clip on T.V and on surf videos.

2/. What sort of work I could get.

3/. What the difference between Bachelor of Popular Music and Bachelor of Music Technology.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: First you have to decide if you want to study music as a musician or a producer. In other words do you want to go into the music industry or into the performing art. If you choose the performing arts which is what i think you will, you will choose your instrument, in your case guitar.

Most colleges will ask you what kind of guitar you will want to study. Either classical guitar or jazz guitar. For jazz guitar this is my recommendation:

1. Learn all twelve major scales in at least five different positions.
2. Learn all modes as well. If not at least just learn the Ionian, Dorian, Phrisian, Mixolidian, and Locrian.
3. Also minor scales, natural, harmonic and melodic.
4. Prepare two jazz songs from different composers and different styles,
5.Know your blues scale and be prepared to improvise on it.

For classical:

1. Learn your twelve major scales
2. Learn three minor scales
3. Prepare at least two classical songs from different time periods, such as a song by J. S. Bach way back in the past and something modern such as Heitor Villalobos.
