Question:

Juilliard?

Okay, I'm in 8th grade, and our class did career research. Like two days after the presentation, I decided that instead of psychology, I wanted a career in music (piano) because I love it with all my heart. So, I heard Juilliard was really selective, of course, and was wondering, if anyone knew how hard it was to get in to Juilliard. (Like, what do they ask you for the interview). Also some ideas for a career in music (other than music therapy, composing, or anything to do with jazz music, I LOVE CLASSICAL MUSIC, hint hint)

Thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Juilliard and other music conservatories have auditions in addition to the interview. You will need to perform exceedingly well to be admitted.

You will need to be studying piano for the next few years with the absolutely best instructor(s) possible. Your repertoire list will need to be broad and cover composers from Bach to Mozart to Schumann to Brahms to Shostakovich. Not just the "famous" bits either...you'll need to know entire sonatas from Mozart, etc....AND you'll need to have them all memorized.
