Question:

How should I start my career in music?

I really want to be a singer or dancer..or both. I don't have much experience but I'm very talented..Right now, I'm taking ballet and my teacher says I'm really good. I'm about to start taking jazz or tap classes..Hip hop is my favorite, I'm really good..I want to be like Ciara or something...a talented signer and dancer. I'm also a really good singer..I haven't had voice lessons but I"m in chorus at school. I believe I can become a professional, I just dont know whether I should start a dance career or singing first! because I know it is best to start both at a young age and I'm 15 so I need to hurry up.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The most effective way is to form a band. You can form a band with your friends or you can advertize, by hanging signs or by putting a classified ad in the paper. Once your band has practiced together for four to six months and you're confident that you are ready to take the stage, you can start playing open mike nights, small clubs, and parties.

After you've played together for a few months, so you know how to work together and how to work with an audience, rent some studio time and cut a few songs for a demo tape. Send the demo to agents and production companies. That's the standard route.

Also don't be afraid to go non-standard routes. The Internet is a good way to build name recognition, as are open-mike nights, talent shows, and talent competitions like beauty pageants or American Idol. It's very difficult to break into the entertainment business, so rememer: talent is not the most important trait you need to have to break in. the most important trait you need is persistance.
