Question:

What would be a good audition song?

I have some college auditions coming up and am looking for an upbeat song from a musical. I need a monologue (which I already have) and 2 songs (one slow and one upbeat).

I'm looking for something fun but that also is not overdone. Some of the songs I considered using are:

Ckimbing Uphill from The Last Five Years.
I took this song to districts and got an excellent on it. I'm not using it to audition because I was strongly advised against using Jason Robert Brown songs as they are too complicated to play on the piano unless the pianist has had time to get familiar with the song.

If You Hadn't (But You Did) from Two On The Aisle.
The reason I'm not using this is for the simple reason that the music is out of print and it has been pretty much impossible for me to track down.

So! Any suggestions?

Yes, I do have a voice teacher and we've been looking for songs. As mentioned, the one's we've come up with that have "clicked" (by that I mean the song fits my voice and I really enjoy the song) there's always a problem (i.e. too difficult to play to can't find the sheet music).

I'm trying to stray from shows that are too popular and might be overdone like Les Miserables but thank you for the suggestion.

Another one I'm considering is The Life Of The Party from The Wild Party.
