Question:

Broadway Stars?

Ok, so today me and my mom were talking about broadway and i told her i want to go on it. We started talking about the pros and cons of it. She said that they have like one big point and then they are done and aren't famouse or have jobs anymore...do u think broadway would be a good idea for a career?

It's not good in the sense that you don't have job security or regular hours, there's lots of competition, it doesn't pay well so you'll probably need a second job, there's a lot of favoritism... but that applies to almost all performing arts jobs and arts jobs in general.

It is good in the sense that if theater is your thing, it can be a very rewarding career on the stage, you can meet fabulous (and not so fabulous) people, you'll enjoy the comraderie of being in a cast, bonding over hours of rehearsals from demanding choreographers, getting the thrill of a live audience night after night, the tension before you read an important review... it could be an immensely fulfilling and enjoyable career.

I think it'd be a blast, but it's not necessarily as "sensible" as becoming a nurse, teacher, lawyer, accountant, etc.
