Question:

Does any one have the lyrics to all of Gloria? I'll get the sheet music in a week, but until then i want to practice any way because i have the notes and the music. it's really beautiful

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Poulenc uses the words of the Gloria in excelsis deo, which is part of the Latin Mass, over 1500 years old.
And you're right. His music is fantastic!

Here are the words in full, with a translation.

Gloria in exc㩬sis Deo
Et in terra pax hom㭮ibus bonae volunt㡴is.
Laud㡭us te.
Bened㭣imus te.
Ador㡭us te.
Glorific㡭us te.
Gr㡴ias 㡧imus tibi propter magnam gl㳲iam tuam,
D㳭ine Deus, Rex c㦬㩳tis, Deus Pater omn㭰otens.
D㳭ine Fili unig㩮ite, Jesu Christe.
D㳭ine Deus, Agnus Dei, F㭬ius Patris.
Qui tollis pecc㡴a mundi, miser㩲e nobis.
Qui tollis pecc㡴a mundi, s㺳cipe deprecati㳮em nostram.
Qui sedes ad d㩸teram Patris, miser㩲e nobis.
Qu㳮iam tu solus Sanctus.
Tu solus D㳭inus,
Tu solus Alt㭳simus, Jesu Christe,
C u m Sancto Sp㭲itu in gl㳲ia Dei Patris. Amen.

Glory in the heights to God
And on earth peace to men of good will.
We praise You.
We bless You.
We adore You.
We glorify You.
We give You thanks for Your great Glory.
Lord God, heavenly King, God the Father almighty.
Lord the only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father.
You who take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
You who take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer.
You who sit at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.
For You alone [are] the Holy One.
You alone [are] the Lord.
You alone [are the] Most High, Jesus Christ.
With the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
