Question:

Reciting Jabberywocky?

I'm reading Jabberwocky by Lewis Carrol for a recitation contest (Poetry Out Loud) that my entire 9th grade Honors English class has to participate in. I'm fairly sure I'm going to be among the 3 kids chosen to represent the class in the next stage of the contest, but I was hoping for some tips on performing the poem. I've got no problem memorizing, but I think I need to step it up with the way I read it. Thanks..

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Do you know Hamlet's advice to the players? "Speak the speech, I pray you, as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue..." Great advice for any public speaking. With Jabberwocky you might try it as if you're telling an exciting story in perfectly understandable form, with a slightly sinister edge.
