Question:

Did Hamlet think about suicide? If yes, why?

I have to perform a small scence tonight, and it entails Hamlet, thinking about stabbing himself. Was this in the play? I have prepared very little, and not sure what to do. Its kinda of an improv. thanks

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: In addition to the famous TO BE OR NOT TO BE sentence, he goes on to ponder what ??makes calamity of so long life ... when he himself might his quietus make with a bare bodkin?
Already at the beginning (Act 1, scene 2) he complains:
O that this too too solid flesh would melt,
Thaw and resolve itself into a dew,
Or that the Everlasting had not fixed
His canon ??gainst self-slaughter

Good luck, and PLEASE be worthy of the play!
It is one of the best outputs of human literature!!!
