Question:

Need help with ideas for a Young @ Heart Banquet?

I'm in charge of decorating for our Young @ Heart Banquet at church. This is a yearly banquet that our kids honor our older members (60+). They also put on a program & this year it's The Wizard of Oz. I always try to make the theme of the banquet compliment the program. However I don't like to use the actual performance as decorations, etc.

I am wanting to do something in the line of "Kansas" since this is where the movie takes place to begin with. I don't want to use Emerald City, or anything from the WOZ.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: use corn stalks, sunflowere blundles and hay stacks. Old wheel barrols and an old wagan if you can find one out side the entrence filled with hay. Have the kids draw country rolling hills and valleys on a roll of yellow (for a sunny day look) paper and put it around the room.
On the tables use sunflowers and red checked table clothes.
Maybe some wood shaving scattered around on the floor also.
