Question:

What is the play equus about?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It's based on a lurid bit of news: a guy with mental issues blinded several horses and went out running naked and covered in blood, on the English fields. He became a celebrity when psychologists tried to find out his deeper motivations (incest, by the way).

The play only takes the blinding of the horses and the shrink-patient relationship. The whole incest bit is not there, and also the main character in the play doesn't kill himself like the real guy did (his name escapes me).

It's a whole exploration of obsession, passion and madness in the capitalist world. Quite good, actually.
