I need some tips on playing guitar!?

I need some tips on playing guitar!?

Hey I am teaching myself to play guitar, and so far i've been doing very well. but my problem lately has been finger accuracy. I can't seem to get my fingers to land in the center of the fret and get the sound i want. i always seem to land off to one side and of course it makes funny sounds then. I know that if i practice it will get better, but what im looking for is some sort of technique or practice or something that will help me get that nailed down. any advice?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: i always play 4 or 5 notes close to each other to get warmed up before i start playing. that seems to work fine for me.
