Want to be Elphaba in wicked?

I am going to camp this summer and we are doing a special scenes program where we get to choose any scene and I really want to be Elphaba from wicked in Defying Gravity. We are also doing footloose and I would like a good singing part, with dancing. My friends say I have a good voice but I'm not so sure. I can't take voice lessons. What can I do to make my voice loud enough and powerful enough to sound good and be Elphaba?

I'm not sure what my natural range is. I crack a little on the high notes, but not always.
