Question:

What's it mean to "open your voice"?

I want to take vocal lessons but it's expensive. My hesitancy is due to the arsty-farstyness of it. All of the descriptions that I read about how the lessons go sounds incredibly cheesy to me. Stuff like "open your third eye," "meet the tru emotional you," "open your voice" to name a few. To those of you with experience with this my question to you is: is this type of stuff legitimate? Or is it just new-age crap wasting my time. Is there a technical aspect to all this mumbo-jumbo? Thanks! Sorry if I offended any one too, but it was necessary to get my point across.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Yes, I would say this stuff sounds cheesy. But it's not until you do it that you figure out why they're actually making you do it. It has the same, yet different meaning to everyone. But it helps you reach a common goal. It's mostly about self-awareness (meet the true emotional you) and perspective (open your third eye). You just have to do the "outside the box" kind of thing. :D
