So the question is how and why the role of the government changed in expansionism and race relations after the civil war!?

expansionism and race relations had nothing whatsoever to do with each other!.!.!.!.the US became very expansionist after the civil war moving into indian territory (in violation of many treaties) from the dakotas all the way down to Oklahoma and Nevada!. Manifest Destiny was the keyword!.!.!.a sort of mythical belief that America was destined by the heavens to conquer the whole continent, by fair means or foul!.

As far as race relations!.!.!.!.the blacks were basically lied to by the feds, who left them for the local southerners to govern!.!.!.so they lanquished in a sort of poverty striken limbo for the next 70 years or so!.!.!.see Jim Crow laws for more info!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
