Question: When they Romans took over the Greeks, did the Greeks become part of their culture!?

Did they filter in and become Greeks!? How come a lot of the Roman gods are Greek with different names!? Such as Aphrodite and Venus!? Were they part of the same culture!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

The strength of Rome was its ability to absorb different peoples and their cultures and make them a part of the Roman empire!. The Romans often took gods from other cultures and made them their own!. There was a whole multitude of different deities and the Romans often had no problems with conquered races keeping their own gods!. A little bit of both!.
The Romans were always impressed by Greek culture!. After the Roman take over of Greece, lots of art was pillaged and taken to Rome!. It created a fashion there!. One was not cultured if one did not speak (Attic) Greek!.

Of course, since Greece was now part of the Roman empire, it influenced them too!. But to a much lesser extend!. Greek remained the language, and later became the language of the Byzantine empire!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
