I would ask what have folks interpreted the Mayan calendar as predicting!. That's the big thing right there, the Mayan calendar ends in 2012 and folks have interpreted this to mean they predicted the end of the world!. The trouble is a good prediction is one open to interpretation!. Too often have I heard folks claim Nostradamus predicted a giant bird crashing into an enormous building is proof he predicted 9/11!. But another interpretation of such prediction could be July 28, 1945, on that date a B-25 crashed into the Empire State Building!.

In all likelihood the Maya either planned to start another calendar but their empire declined before one could be started or they did make another but either our ancestors destroyed it without knowing what it was or we haven't found it yet!. It does not mean the end of the world!. If every single end of the world prediction is given credence then none of us posting on here should ever have been born!. In fact our great-great-great grandparents shouldn't have been born!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have a brilliant book called "The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness" By Carl Johan Calleman, PhD!. If you are interested!. The Mayan long count calender does not predict any thing in particular, it finishes on the 20th of December 2012!. What it does do is put all of the great moments in perspective!. Using the Gregorian calender all the big things in human history seem to be random events!. Using the long count calender you will see that all the best things and all the worst things happen during specific epochs!.
