Question: How did property ownership contribute to accusations of witchcraft!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Property ownership, especially of women living alone (widows, usually), inspired greed on the part of people who (1) wanted the property and (2) didn't think women should be managing their own lives!.

The easiest way to get that property away from them, was to accuse them of a crime they couldn't prove they were innocent of!. It's very hard to prove you're not a witch!. It's even harder if you're doing things many people believe are "unwomanly," like managing property and money--the belief that a woman needed a man to do these contributed to the claims!. If she's living alone, she must be getting help from *somewhere*, right!? And if there's no man around, it must be an evil spirit!

So a greedy or malicious person would make the accusation, and the neighbors might believe it because they couldn't understand how she could live alone successfully without some kind of evil powers!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A lot of kings lived a high life !. Take phillip of france !.Continuously broke he was!. At that time there used to live the very wealthy knight templar community!. In order for phillip to get his hands on money and property of this ex crusaders, he had to kill the pope ,reinstate a pope of his liking, and get the Templar's excommunicated!. Then he proceeded to bribe witnesses, to attest to the knight Templar's evil religious believe and practises!.
They were accused of heresy and witchcraft !. After that phillip s coffers were full and no templar remained in france, apart from the ones that were brutally tortured and murderedWww@QuestionHome@Com
