Question: Anybody see the history channel world war 2 series!? Other psychological/anthropological reasons for war!?
I watched dvd's of this and found myself getting really disoriented -at one point I had to stop it and ask my partner what that was was all about what started it!? especially the d day landings footage - It all looked like a huge deadly game and so much depending on luck and little tiny pieces of information!. I owe my own life to the fact that my mother had gone home to lunch 5 minutes before a daylight raider attacked her engineering factory with a machine gun totally destroying the dockside machine she had been working with!. I was thinking it would have been easier to have a game of dice!.

Why war!? Is there some other reason for fighting!?

Was this a true picture of what happened!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

World War II was the largest and most complicated war in all human history, not only in terms of what happened worldwide, but why we had such a war!. There is no one simple reason for it!. The USA formally entered war after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, but they did so because they feared that we would block their efforts to exert their dominance in southern Asia in order to secure vital supplies such as oil, which we had put an embargo on!. The Germans sparked their war largely in retaliation of their defeat in WW1 and onerous terms of surrender, which they blamed for the ruin of their country!. And this is just a grossly simplified explanation!.

The basic reason why we have war is because much of the time it does work out to the advantage of the aggressors!. It's the same reason why we have thieves--they do frequently get away with it!. It is invariably easy to "justify" starting any kind of war, as both the Germans and Japanese had claimed "valid" reasons why they chose to attack other nations in WW2!. We want to believe that nations are governed by a sense of right and wrong, but ruthlessness frequently supersedes such judgements, especially when it is so easy to rationalize!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are some truly evil people in the world!. Hitler wanted to remove the "problem" of Untermenschen ( anyone he viewed as inferior races) by killing them!. So if you were one of the people he detested, you would die!. You could not ask him to roll dice with you!. You could not reason with him!. He thought that the blood in your veins determined if you should live or die!. Even tho his theory of "blood" was a horrible joke with no scientific basis!.
There have been wars in the world for the last 5,000 years!. Today there are people killing each other in many countries: Somalia, Sudan, Bosnia,Congo, Zimbabwe, even the drug lords in Mexico!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
