Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
international:
after WWI, president wilson wanted to establish the League of Nations to restore peace and democracy!.
also, WWI made the US (and Japan) a major world power and a creditor nation!. the US helped restore europe after all the destruction of WWI!. for example, herbert hoover (before becoming president) aided much of europe by bringing food, clothing, and fuel!.
also, the US was concerned with the Mexican Revolution and who was in power!.

Domestic:
the US was using more and more credit, which led to the stock market crash in 1929 and the great depression!.
during the depression, it was very controversial that FDR exercised much more power than any president ever had before!. this gave the president a larger role in controlling the economy and other aspects of life!. the depression effected most people and 1/4 (probably more like 1/3 if you include farmers) were out of work!.
also, prohibition was another issue!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
