Actually, it was here all the time----at least since the Jurassic period---125 million years ago!. Columbus MERELY arrived in the western hemisphere in the 15th century of the Christian Era!.

And in truth, since his landfall was in the Carribean (which he didn't know because nobody told him the name of the sea region he was in) it is a matter of semantics if he was in America at all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

On his first two voyages Columbus discovered Cuba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, etc!. Only on his third voyage (1498) did he reach the mainland!. Author Arciniegas claims that Amerigo actually reached the continent the year before!. But in answer to your question yes 1492 is the 15th!. Century!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

According to the historians, these voyages to North America, numbered 3 in total spanning from 1492 to 1498, have been instrumental in the exploration of present day North America!.
