Question: What are some air combat maneuvers used in WWII that involved communication between pilots!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I just finished reading a book about the turn of the tide during the U-boot campaign called Black May by Michael Gannon !. It described close coordination between aircrews while attacking U-boots!. The pilots were also in close communication with escort ships!. There are no actual names for practiced maneuvers, however!. The planes would be vectored in by a commander aboard an escort!.

In the Pacific there was a very successful maneuver used by slower US planes in fighting Zeros!. It was called the Thach Weave!. It required no radio communication, but did require very close cooperation!. See here:

They tried not to use the radio during combat so the enemy would not know what they were up to and where they were!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
