!.!.!.and the REALLY sad part was that we could have had the Japanese on our side fairly easily with diplomacy!. But there wasn't a guy in Washington who had ever read a book about Japan - so we didn't know how lousy our own diplomacy was!.

If we couldn't have had Japan on our side we could at least have kept them from attacking us and starting an all-out war!.

Very much an ill fated coincidence!. Nazi Germany wanted an additional ally against the Soviets!. Japan, looking to extend its influence appeared to be a good partner!. However, the Japanese never attacked the Russians which allowed Stalin to concentrate his efforts on defeating the Germans!. Neither side was able to provide any material support or coordinate military operations!.

To make matters worse, the Japanese brought the Americans into the war when they attacked Pearl Harbor forcing the Germans to honor their treaty obligations and declare war on the US!. Pretty much sealing the fate of the Third Reich!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They were both got the short end of the stick at the end of WW1!. Even though the Japanese were on the winning side the first time, they felt that they had to expand in order to increase their standard of living!. It was not coincidence, it was the fact that they were both have-nots wanting to topple the "haves!."Www@QuestionHome@Com
