The answer to both is No, neither ended segregation or discrimination!. However, both were a good start!. Unfortunately both segregation and discrimination still exist, though perhaps not as blatantly as before these two historic acts!.

Discrimination today takes on a more subtle quality!. IT also affects many besides just Blacks!. Hispanics often face it in the Southwest, and, since 9-11, sadly many Muslims have also faced much discrimination as well!.

Segregation by force is illegal, but it does still occur in many places as minorities sometimes cluster in certain areas!. Sometimes such clusters become de facto segregation where outsiders avoid that area!.

Only when we recognize the connection ALL of us have with each other, when we get rid of the "us" vs "them" thinking, and when we finally recognize that there is no "them", only US, (which includes every single person on the planet), will segregation and discrimination end!. While that sounds difficult, it is an ideal that we as humans should strive for if we ever truly want peace!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Would that they did! If passing laws could end segregation and discrimination, it would have happened at the end of the civil war, when the slaves were freed!. But their freedom was largely an illusion!. The same with the civil rights act of 1964!. Those acts became illegal, but they still continued!. It's like speeding in a car, running a red light, etc!. They are illegal, but people do it anyway!.
The situation is improving - and has vastly improved in the past twenty or so years, but is still not perfect, unfortunately!. Putting down racism is something that each person must do on an individual basis!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, Because big foots and space aliens are still not welcome in the general public!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
