Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Actually, I think all of these deaths are fairly honorable!. If I had to distinguish, however, I would say that Portia probably has the least honorable death, and Titinius has the most!.

Titinius commits suicide purely out of loyalty and love for Cassius!. Especially in Roman times, there was no more honorable way to die!. Of course, there were some, such as Cato, who believed that suicide was wrong!. Nevertheless, I feel that in Roman times suicides like those of Brutus, Cassius and Titinius were viewed as highly honorable deaths!.

Portia killed herself in a moment of distracted insanity, and she did not die on the field of battle!. I believe this is much less honorable!. You might look at the role that gender plays in this for part of your thesis!.

Caesar's death may also be less honorable, as it was the result of a betrayal!. Nevertheless, in many ways it made him an honorable martyr!. In fact, although Shakepeare clearly did not believe this, some historians now argue that Caesar knew about the plot and chose not to do anything!. His health was failing, and he chose to die in a manner that would maintain his honor!.!.!.

For your thesis, you might look at the increasing level of social stigma associated with suicide!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
