The creditors would attempt to force payment through a degree of ownership!. France was trying to secure force an American closed market and enforce price controls upon the Americans to gain an edge against the British dominance of the cross Atlantic trade!. However the French revolution and Napoleon ended this before the debt could be completely paid and the Louisiana purchase ended all American debt to France!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
