Militarism was one of the causes for example Germany, Italy, Turkey were already setting up all these countries were getting their military ready and training them!. also there were all these alliances between countries that were created "in case" of war!. Imperialism was also a huge one!. There were countries that were fighting and arguing over conquered territories in Africa and Asia!. Nationalism was also and the final reason there were all these multinational empires like the Ottomans, Austria-Hungary and others!. think about it you would not want to be locked in a room with someone who has very different ideas!. You may try to get along but eventually you guys will get angry and fight!. There were several people of different religions, ethnicities and others in an empire and people had a hard time getting along!. That was all a powder keg waiting to be built up and then BAM!!!! the assasination of Ferdinand was what caused the explosion that led to the war!. Gavrillo Princip, a Serbian national was a member of an extreme nationalist terror group known as the black hand!. Him and his comrades planned on assasinating him!. When Austria Hungary found out, Serbia was given an ultimatum and refused!. Then Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia and then RUSSIA jumped in to defend Serbia and then all the alliances jumped in and BAM!!!! WWIWww@QuestionHome@Com There is no innocent party in a war!. There are always political schemes and power wanted!. Russia had a very strong political and royal tie with England!. Russia entered for its own reason and political aspirations!. There is no blameless and guiltless country in any war!. If you are writing a paper, I would choose another angle to your question!. I would not prove that Russia was not guilty!. I would concentrate on the fact that certain historians and scholars do not view Russia’s involvement in WWI as significant as other countries because of its inner turmoil!. The civil unrest superseded the political desire to be a power in WWI!. If you want to take the route of proving Russia is not to blame search for some historical revisionism through communist ideology!.
