Question: In all of time which race of people would have killed more people!?
We are always told about Hitler and WW2, but that was over a 4-5 year span, what about over the centuries!? How many would the Romans have killed!? The Japanese!? The Chinese!? Not to mention the English wiping out almost entire races of people, why are people always told about Hitler but never really told about the entire races being culled by the English such as the Australian Aboriginies, theAmerican Indians, the Africans, is Hitler always being singled out because of the Jewish factor!? I'm not supporting Hitler it just drives me nuts that we always make that the worse, when over centuries the English and Romans slaughtered millions, killing is killing, isn't it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

There is a real difference here I'm kind of surprised you can't see it!.

The deaths that resulted from English expansion were results of incompetence (I think the Americans must take most of the blame for killing the Native Americans, since the American desite to expand further westward, and the british dislike of that idea was one of the tensions leading to the American Revolution)!.

The English never went into countries thinking,
"let's exterminate this entire race"
NEVER!.

Hitler invaded Soviet Russia with the intention of killing much of the native population and turning those left into slaves for his new German settlers!. Not to mention his very real wish to destroy the Jewish people entirely!.

The Irish potato famine (for example of a trajedy under the English), was caused because of a natural famine, and a refusal of the English to divert food (as this would be an intervention of the holy grail that was the Free Market)!. Despite what some might tell you, the English didn't WANT all those Irishmen dead!.
There were similar issues in India, where again the English weren't prepared to go out of their way to help, but they didn't create the problems either!.

The Romans may have slaughtered thousand, or hundreds of thousands (i doubt miillions, since there weren't a huge amount of people in the world at that time), but they never wanted to annhilate an entire race! That was what makes Hitler especially evil, to want to kill someone because of what race they are (which you can't change), is considered worse than wanting to kill someone because of what they have done (which was their choice, and they could have changed)!.

BTW - The English didn't wipe out entire races, they were just assimilated, there was no genocide, infact I doubt there has ever been a succesful annhilation of an entire people!.
also the Spanish and Portugesse conquests of S!.America were much more bloody than any English invasion of anywhere, where entire civilisations were wiped out, and mass deaths, perhaps a greater example of the evils of Imperialism!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
