In many aspects, he was like Gandhi because he believed strongly in civil disobedience and non-violent protesting!.

However, out of these categories I would say he falls under Democratic, charismatic, people-oriented and definitely transformational!.

I actually think transformational might be the best fit, now that I think about it!. Mandela became the first black president (and president to be elected by a fully democratic election) of South Africa during a turbulent time, and showed great leadership, which helped the country move forward!.

One of his accomplishments before the election was leading the fight against apartheid as president of the ANC; he was sentenced to life in prison because of this involvement!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
