I learnt about it at Junior school!. British history focuses on British history, and the American War of Independence is not considered a major part of that (whether it is or not is another matter)!. We do, however, cover the 1932 presidential election, the New Deal and some exam boards offer courses on the American West!.

If your looking for a more cynical approach to the American Revolution you could argue that the upper class in America (Washington, Jefferson ect) were upset that they were not treated in the same way as the the upper class in Britain!. And that it was less about the interest of the whole of America as it was about the interest of the upper class in America!.

Remember it wasn't until the age of Jackson (almost 50 years after the Declaration of Independence that all poor whites could vote!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's been so long since then I would imagine they teach it in the same way as American schools, possibly even using the same textbooks!. But of course its highly likely you would get an ideological professor (or teacher) that would have negative views on it and express it freely to his/her students (but that goes without saying)Www@QuestionHome@Com

They ignore it!.

Before you get offended, it's a sad fact that the British educational system doesn't bother to teach much in the way of history - including our own!. Oh; you get the Nazis and WW2, but often that's about it!.

Sad, really!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

They probobly teach all the facts, except they would potray the states as a rebellious colony!.

How do you teach 1812!? Do you tell the kids that the brittish burned the whitehouse!? (plus half of washington!?)Www@QuestionHome@Com

They dont teach that in our schools (the same way americans avoid teaching about attrocities commited against native americans in the past)Www@QuestionHome@Com

They probably blame it all on the French and teach it as a part of the larger dissoluton of their colonial control!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Didn't cover it when I was at school!. Most of what we were taught was British history!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
