My dad was in the Fleet Marine Force in Vietnam (Navy Seabees attached to the Marines)!. He says there were no official combat roles for women, as that was not policy for our military at the time!. He suggests that maybe some of the women who were there either in the military as nurses or in support positions may have seen some combat, but it wasn't their purpose for being there!.
