AH:

1!. Economy--should be based on manufacturing, banking, and finance
2!. Tariff--Was in favor of a revenue tariff to pay off national debt and a protective tariff to protect domestic manufacturers
3!. People--Most people were unfit to rule over themselves, let alone others!. The masses could not be trusted and they should elect the wisest among them to rule over them

TJ:

1!. Economy--Should agrarian based with farming and land-related industry to finance the nation's economy (although later in his life he switched and recognized the importance of manufacturing and finance more)
2!. Tariff--Being from the South, Jefferson was suspicious of tariffs since it protected the North and hurt the SOuth (through higher prices for imported goods)
3!. The people--While Jefferson tended to trust the common folk more than Jefferson it is incorrect to assume that Jefferson felt the ordinary American was capable of governing themselves--he didn't!. He was closer to Hamilton on this issue than many teachers are aware!. jefferson was an elitist, just as Hamilton was, although he DID place more confidence on the common man than did Hamilton!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Alexander Hamilton was a federalist, and Elitist!. He did not trust the common people to be able to handle anything, and advocated for a strong Federal Government (Federalist), run mainly by people he considered 'High-Born' and wealthy!. Jefferson, on the other hand, believed in a true Democratic Republic, where everyone had the same opportunities, and an equal say in governmental policies!. It was a rift between these two former Cabinet members that would create the basis for our 2-party system!. Hamilton believed that all advantages, tax, financial and others, should be given to the rich, and allow them to filter it down in the form of jobs, expansion, etc!.!.!., and taxes should be on the less successful, to support the latter!. This is similar to the modern Republican point of view!. Jeffersson belived that most of the Tax burden should fall on those most easily able to afford it!.!.!.!.the rich, and allow the less successful to use their money to improve their lives, thus stimulating the ecomony!. This is similar to the modern Democratic viewpoint!. It is an issue that still stands, even today, unresolved!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You must remember, both men were politicians at heart!.
Alexander Hamilton was of questionable birth and from Jamaica!. He was also a financial master and felt the colonies would fail if they were not united
Elitist, wow, that is harsh!. I think he was a man of his time!. I think he suffered from depression, but he was able to write very well!. His writing style was often used against him!. Much of what he would write was published under false names!. Politics in America was new and not usually considered something an honest man did!. So they did it under false names!.

Thomas Jefferson was the kind of person who always knew what was right for others to do!. He didn't practice much of what he preached!. He was an easy to like person, but if you offended him, you would find yourself out in the cold fast!. He has been made responsible for hundreds of quotes he never said!. He was cursed with migraine headaches and often roamed the White House in his robe!. He promised many slaves that they would be freed upon his death!. Not only did he live to be very old but he died penniless and his slaves remained slaves!.
He wrote some incredibly intuitive things but he was credited with so much that many of the things he said that were not that brilliant were forgotten!. It was often a topic he joked about!.
He didn't believe America could stay in existence!. He even wrote that America needs a good revolt regularly!.
He did write some great stuff!. If America could live up to his dreams of what we could be, America might overshadow all other nations morally!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
