Question: I have some piano keys, should I throw them away!?
My piano was made in the late 1800's and we've just dismantled it to create a musical art installation with the inside!. (You can watch the first video here! http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=CK3IrT8X0!.!.!.

I think the keys are possibly ivory or ivory veneer, do you think this kind of thing would be of use to someone or should I just throw them away!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

As you know, new ivory is an illegal trade!. Old ivory shouldn't be a problem!. You might be able to sell them on EBay or to a piano restorer or parts!.

Pity you had to take the original apart!. Usually, these old instruments can be restored if the sounding board isn't cracked or if the frame isn't gone to the point where it won't keep the pegs held tight!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Contact a piano sales/repair specialist!. Check your local yellowpages!. Especially look for any piano expert who does restorations!. If the keys are not of direct use to them, they will be more readily able to advise you as to what to do with the keys!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

either go to your nearest piano tuner and see what they say or go to your nearest music shop and ask in their!. also you could try putting it on Ebay or advertising it in a newspaper or on an advertisement board in your local supermarket or in a shop window!. Hope this helped xxxxxWww@QuestionHome@Com
