He was a general during the American Revolutionary War who originally fought for the American Continental Army, but switched sides to the British Empire!. As a general still on the American side, he obtained command of the fort at West Point, New York, and attempted unsuccessfully to surrender it to the British!. After this he served with British forces as a Loyalist!.

He was a traitor!. He started out as an awesome general for on the American side, then he changed sides and became a loyalist to the British empire!. He was considered to be one of the most bad *** generals of that war and without him in the beginning we prolly could have lost, but once he switched side all of the good things he accomplished for our country were forgotten and his name is now used as another word for traitor!. He switched sides because he was passed over by promotion by the Continental congress after other people took credit for his accomplishments!. He was also being investigated for being really bad debt and there was charges of corruption invovled!. So he became pissed off and bitter and decided to help surrender West Point to the British, but his plans were spoiled when John Andre' (a british dude) was caught with papers that revealed the scheme!. Thats the gist of it!.!.!.
