Hitler's rise to power - he promised a better Germany, and had the charisma and stage presence to build a strong following!.

The Lend-Lease Act from Roosevelt!. This involved the US lending military supplies (including ships and weapons) to the UK without them having to pay it back right away, and in return the UK provided Naval space for US ships in the North Atlantic!.

Pearl Harbor, because it was what got the US involved in it!.

The Yalta Conference, in which Roosevelt, Stalin, and Churchill all met and agreed that the US and UK would help Russia defeat the Germans if Russia would then help defeat Japan!.

The D-Day Invasion, and the following months, when the Allied troops worked their way through Western Europe to occupy Berlin!.

Dropping the bombs on Japan, effectively ending the war (Victory over Japan day, or VJ Day, August 15th)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with the previous people who said Hitler invading Russia!. He began the epic tactical mistake of "starting a war on two fronts" (fighting in the west and then the east)!. Of course bombing Japan very significant as well!. Not only did it defeat a country who would never give up unless they were utterly destroyed, it established America as a military super-power as America developed and deployed the most destructive war-ending weapon the world had ever seenWww@QuestionHome@Com

I can't tell you all of the most significant events but the most important was the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor!. If America hadn't entered the war at that time, Germany would have been too powerful to stop and eventually have taken over all of Europe!. With Europe conquered, Germany could have dominated America at it's leisure!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When Hitler turned his back on the Soviet Union!. Without the Soviet Union on our side, we would have lost the war pretty quickly!. We should be damn glad they were our allies, but then there was that dumb cold war that should have never happened in the first placeWww@QuestionHome@Com
