Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The Battle of the Horns of Hattin (Karnehatin, 4 miles from Tiberias) on Saturday 4 July 1187, the feast of St!. Martin le Boillant!.
King Guy and his host left the spring of Saffuriya to help Tiberias!. Saladin harrassed him and they were low on water as it was extremely hot!. King Guy's forces were scattered and did not know what to do!. Guy asked Count Tripoli and he said they should pitch camp, which was lousy advice!.
Once they were encamped, Saladin surrounded them with brushwood and set fire to it!. He also emptied flaggons of water in sight of the thirsty men and animals in the Christian camp!. There was also dissent in the Christian camp between the groups of different cultures and nationalities!.
The Saracens rode around the camp firing at them through the smoke!.
Again the Christian king sought advice and he was told to attack!.
The Saracens parted and the attack ran between their forces, who surrounded them!. Few knights escaped!.
Summarised:
1) The Christians left their stronghold at the spring of Saffuriya!.
2) It was blazing hot and they were harrassed en route, scattering the divisions!.
3) The Christian leader took bad advice!.
4) Saladin used fire and smoke to blind and confuse the camp!.
5) When the Christians attacked the Saracens parted, trapping them and surrounding them!.
6) The Saracens were strong, knew the climate and terrain, used better tactics and were better organised!.
That seems to be about it, in a nutshell!.

Saladin was some warrior , Astute general poet artist extremely well educated , He used his local knowledge and used the desert heat their disunity and lake of good leadership to seperate them then attacked when they were at their weakest!. He could be extremely cruel but also admired courage and was know to be very lenient to his enemies when the mood took him!. The same could not be said for the knights from Europe cruel most had no honor or education and were either in the holy land for fame in battle or plunder , And showed almost no mercy whatsoever !. Saladin didn't win the battle!. Disease, heat exhaustion, desertion, and low morale turned a powerful Christian army into little girls with pointy objects who Saladin easily routed!. Saladin was a pretty clever guy, so I guess he deserves some credit, but I chalk this one up to desert warfare!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
