Question: Historical event concerning women in or around Chaucer's lifetime (1343-1400)!?
I am writing a research paper about a historical and cultural event that needs to be placed within a discussion of Chaucer's "The Canterbury Tales!." I would prefer to write about an issue that specifically pertains to women, but I am having a hard time finding a specific event or movement relating to women during that time period!. Any ideas for what I could write about or any sites talking about the late Middle Ages that might lead me in that direction!? All help is appreciated!

(Or if you have another event that doesn't pertain to women that you think might be interesting, I would like to hear that too!.)Www@QuestionHome@Com

You might look at Margery Kempe and perhaps compare her to the pilgrims and stories in Chaucer!. Kempe was a middle-class wife, mother and brewer who underwent a spiritual awakening and went on (multiple) pilgrimages!. She was a fascinating character: completely batty, but at the same time characteristic of a time of spiritual upheaval, especially for women!. Her autobiography is available in modern translations and there are a couple of biographies/interpretations that may also helpWww@QuestionHome@Com
