My old grade school history books portrayed her as a bit of a victim, who was beheaded because her husband needed to get rid of her in order to have a male heir!. I just watched "The Other Boleyn Girl," and it portrayed her as a ruthless, manipulative witch!.
Who knows something about her, and can give me an idea of what really happened between Henry and Anne!?Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Probably something inbetween!. Anne boleyn was undoubtedly ambitious, and held out for matrimony rather than becoming Henry's mistress like her sister did!. But most people do not believe she was guilty of the adultery of which she was accused, and her execution was most likely unjustified!. She certainly could be quite brutal, she was harsh to Henry's daughter Mary for instance, and urged Henry to be tough with Catherine of Aragon!. And sometimes she seems to have annoyed him with her demands!. She was evidently arrogant and ambitious, and I feel myself probably not a particularly nice person!. But she was brave, and behaved with great courage at her execution, and one cannot but admire her for that!.Www@QuestionHome@Com In the end, it's all just speculation!. The sheer scale of what she managed to do (take a queen's place) indicates that she was ambitious at the very least, meaning that she was probably not as innocent as your books portrayed her!. However, most of the charges brought against her by Henry VIII may have been false, so she probably wasn't as bad as "The Other Boleyn Girl" made her out to be!. Her actual character was probably in the middle and not either of those extremes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com No one can really know unless they knew her in person but "The Other Boleyn Girl" is fiction, it just happens to use historical characters, places and events!. Don't be fooled by movies, even the ones that say they're telling you the truth often aren't!. But in all honesty, a king, who was a bit of a nut and manages to go through as many wives as Henry VIII did can't have been all good!. There's no evidence that she ever did anything bad or wrong, but you never know!. What I do know is that movie went to extremes with both her character and that of her sister!. I would take it with a grain of salt, it was entertainment purposes only, not education!. I would do some research if you want any real answers!.
