It depends strongly on the area!. In England, you see a lot of the distinctive wood- and -plaster black and white houses from this period (such as Stratford on Avon), as well as brick houses built in cities (wood houses were often forbidden to prevent fires) such as Amsterdam, and by the better off elsewhere, and stone ones as well- found in areas where stone was easier to quarry, or sometimes near an old castle or monastery where the locals took the stones and built from them (you can see this in St Andrew's, Scotland)!. The few buildings surviving from this period in Quebec city are stone or brick, and in Boston I think they're almost all brick!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

usually whatever was plentiful in the locale!. Wood, mud, brick, adobe, etc!. The rich usually had more permanent structures built out of the best materials avail in the area!. better wood, baked bricks, etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
