Question: What was the primary purpose of the Carolingian Renaissance!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
To take a cynical view, it was probably to better run the Empire!. Charlemagne was quite generous to learning in many of its forms, and theology and poetry prospered alongside the revival of ancient texts and ways of doing things!. His main motivation may have been simply to create a system in which bishops were better educated, 'civil servants' (as we'd call them) were better at their jobs, and that the new Empire he was creating would in some way live up to the standards of the old one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
